EAST BAY STAND DOWN
What's New
Events and Announcements

23 Feb. 2022
To our Coordinators and Community Supporters:

East Bay Stand Down began in 1999 and over the years has provided a multitude of needed services to thousands of veterans, brought our community together for a common cause and touched the hearts of volunteers who have supported our veterans during each year’s four-day stand down. For all of you who have given your blood, sweat (during set up and take down) and tears you are to be commended.

On behalf of the Executive Board, we have decided to change the format of the East Bay Stand Down due to a number of reasons. During the past few years, Covid has significantly effected the environment in which our veterans live and how we are able to effectively provide services to them.

Within the next few weeks, the Executive Board will be meeting with stakeholders from the VA, Veteran Treatment Court, Swords to Plowshare, Dental and Shelter Inc. to develop a program that will still engage with veterans for services in and around the locations from which they live.

We feel that this ‘transition’ from Stand Down to a new program will still be beneficial to our veterans while still leveraging the support from our Coordinators and Community Supporters.

ALL COMMUNITY MEETINGS ARE CANCELLED.

The Executive Board will communicate any future meetings or Zoom calls that pertain to upcoming activities to support our veterans.

Should you have any comments or suggestions for the Executive Board, please submit them to Scott Whitacre or Jerry Yahiro.
